Still Alive...

Wow. Ridiculous. So much has happened since my last post. And I'm not going to even apologize anymore. It is what it is. I don't blog frequently and that's probably how it's always going to be. I don't even really have time to do a life update post, as that would take an hour. So hopefully I'll be able to do a really cool vacation post in a couple weeks. Aaron and Eli and I will be in San Diego this time next week! And we'll be there for 6 days and 5 nights. So pray for us that we travel safely and keep our sanity as well :)

Also, completely random. But I'd just like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to the wonderful friends and family we have. Eli is so blessed to have so many people love him and I thank God for that every day. He has so many relatives who spoil him. He loves his friends at school. And I hear at least a few times week how smart or cute or sweet he is to his friends. My cup runneth over. That is all.

How Could I Forget.....

One of MOST favorite things Eli does right now? He really loves me playing with him and helping him do things (when he's in the mood, of course). For example, if he wants to find a specific toy from his toy basket. I'll tell him I think it's in the basket and to go look for it. He'll say "mommy!" and hold out his hand for me to hold and come with him. Or he'll be sitting on the floor with his cars and look at me and say "mommy!". I'll ask if he wants me to play with him and he'll say "play" while nodding. :)

I won't lie and say that it's never inconvenient. Obviously there are times when I'm in the middle of something and I'd like for him to do it himself - when it's something he's capable of doing. But I tell myself that he's not going to want me to help him and play with him forever. And I should take advantage of it while I can...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...... :)

Since I'm hopeless at posting regular updates. I figured I could just touch on random topics here and there in the hopes that there is something at least a little interesting to be found in them. So here goes. Eli has been growing and developing so quickly lately that I'm going to list just a few of my favorite things that he does.... (Picture Julie Andrews singing while reading:)

* Eli is FINALLY putting two words together unprompted. Hallelujah! That by itself is worthy of being a favorite. However, my favorite combination of words thus far is: baby boo. He's decided all big animals are mommy or daddy animals. And all little animals are babies. Logical. I can go with that. However, he often refers to cows at "boos" instead of moos (even though he can make an m sound? I don't know). Anyway, it cracks me up to hear him say baby boo. It might not sound funny when you read it, but his little voice just sounds hilarious.

* I love that he LOVES to read! And that he'll now say "read. please." as he holds out a book to you. It's perhaps one of my favorite things he does.

* Eli is very into animals. And his most recent fascination with them is that they go "ninite" too. (We drive by cows every day and on our way home it's too dark to see them, so we say they went ninite). Anyway, because of this, he's decided that any animal laying on its side is "ninite". So he'll line up all his animals on the coffee table and lay them down one at a time, saying "ninite!" to each one as he does it. So cute.

* I love that Eli loves his grandparents! Any time we are going to see them (my parents or Aaron's) Eli will say "mamaw! papaw!" the whole way there! I'm so glad that he's developing such a love for his family :)

* I love that Eli's little personality is shining through more and more. His sense of humor is a constant source of joy for us, since he is constantly cracking us up with what he thinks is funny.

* I love that Eli and Zoe (our dog) play together so well. They are great entertainment for each other. And Eli is very concerned that Zoe has enough food and water and treats. Granted, once he gives her a treat he tries to play tug-of-war with her over it (while laughing the whole time). I thank God every day we have a patient dog who is okay with a toddler's shenanigans.

* I love that Eli is a good sleeper and always has been. He always takes naps and never fights bedtime. Now that I've written this, I'm sure he'll suddenly decide he never wants to sleep again. :P But so far, so good! Makes me dread having another baby, because I know I can't be so lucky with a second...

I'm sure I'll think of more things after I post this. But for now, this seems like plenty. And it's naptime, so I have things to go do!
